Amazon is Selling the Chromecast Again After Three Years

In 2015, Amazon pulled the Chromecast from its virtual shelves because of a petty feud with Google. It’s been three long years—despite a promise that Chromecasts would return last year—-but you can finally buy a Chromecast from Amazon again.

At the time, Amazon stated that it would only sell devices that supported its streaming video service, Prime Video, which was the reason it pulled the Chromecast. In what can only be assumed was retaliation, Google then blocked YouTube on Amazon’s Echo Show. There was a lot of back and forth about it at the time but ultimately nothing changed, even after Amazon said it would start selling Chromecasts again. The whole thing was just petty.

But I digress—that’s not the point. The point is that Amazon finally made good on its promise to lift the ban on Chromecast sells. It’s even selling the devices itself, meaning they qualify for free shipping. They’re selling both the Chromecast Ultra and the third generation Chromecast for the expected prices of $69 and $35, respectively.

But here’s the kicker: the Chromecast still doesn’t support Prime Video. So much for rules, eh?
